Founded in Staten Island
Coastal Supply Group began in March 1972 as Coastal Plumbing Supply, founded by Alexander A. Federico Jr., a Brooklyn tradesman with a clear mission to serve the plumbing trade with reliability and integrity.
He acquired a small Staten Island supply house in Stapleton on Bay Street and later opened a Kitchen and Bath showroom on New Dorp Lane, building a reputation for customer service and quality products at competitive prices.
1980s to 2000s
Family Growth and Regional Expansion
Led by Al’s sons, Alex and John, the business expanded across the New York and New Jersey metropolitan area, steadily increasing market presence while staying rooted in trade-focused service.
2005
Expansion Into HVAC and Multi-Location Growth
The company expanded to three Staten Island locations and launched the S.I. Heating & Cooling Division at 2274 Arthur Kill Road, marking Coastal’s entry into HVAC distribution and broadening its service capabilities.
